Student Council at Willow

An opportunity for leadership

Student Council enables the children to run meetings, make decisions and implement plans. Each fall, those interested in acting as representatives, campaign and give speeches to the entire school body. This is followed by an election for four positions which include: president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. Typically the president and vice president are from the 7th-8th grade groupings and the treasurer and secretary from the 5th-6th grade class.

The students meet weekly to discuss upcoming events and address any issues or ideas passed on from their classmates. The student council hosts a weekly ice cream day and other fun activities such as no collar day, super hero day, crazy hat day, pajama day, etc.,. Another fun event, created annually, is Murder Mystery! This game is like a live version of the board game Clue. The children are put into teams and have to solve a crime by interviewing suspects and running from one school location to the next. At the end of each year, the student council hosts a pizza swim party which every student looks forward to.
